A member of the UConn Honors Program, Evan is pursuing minors in materials science and mathematics while conducting undergraduate research in Professor Burcu Beykal’s research group. His work has explored atmospheric water harvesting and geothermal energy systems, including the use of process simulation and Python-based automation to investigate more sustainable approaches to water production. The NASA CT Space Grant Scholarship will support Evan as he continues his undergraduate research during his senior year and explores new projects in power and energy systems.

Evan’s interests also extend to nuclear energy and advanced power systems. His industry experience includes internships at Millstone Nuclear Power Station, Rand-Whitney Containerboard, and MPR Associates, where he has contributed to engineering projects supporting nuclear power plants and small modular reactor technologies. His long-term goal is to work at the intersection of nuclear energy and process systems engineering, developing technologies with applications both on Earth and in space.

Congratulations to Evan on this outstanding achievement! We look forward to seeing all that he will continue to accomplish in his research and future career.
