Burkey Receives the 2025 AIChE Award for Excellence in Engineering Education Research

Presented by the AIChE Education Division, the award recognizes sustained impact through outstanding research in chemical engineering education. Dr. Burkey was honored for his distinguished contributions to process safety education and engineering ethics education.

“I’m grateful to all my colleagues in the AIChE Education Division and my nominators and letter writers for this recognition,” Burkey shared. “It’s been a terrific conference and great to connect with so many friends and colleagues.”

Burkey earned his M.A.Ed. in Educational Psychology, with a focus on Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation, from UConn in 2023. He also holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from MIT and a B.S.E. in Chemical Engineering from Lehigh University.
